ABSTRACT. Under the market economy conditions where the footwear manufacturing economic operators and the commercial operators are interested in setting up the expiry date for footwear by means of standards (technical specifications) the need of drawing up new objective methods for the assessment of footwear lifetime has arisen. By correlating the test results for the footwear constituent materials, having the footwear wearing conditions laboratory simulated, after storage and wearing, the admissible limits for the major characteristics for the wearing under common conditions can be established.

KEY WORDS: market economy, footwear manufacturing economic operators, footwear lifetime, admissible limits
